Thoughts on Good Friday

I've never really known much about Good Friday.  Growing up it meant we were going to have fish for dinner, but not much more thought went into it.

As I got older, I learned that Good Friday was the day of Christ's crucifixion.  Hmm...  Sunday was the day He rose, which was awesome, but I couldn't really wrap my brain around Friday being "good".

There are several theories on the origin of the "good", but I've settled on this one:  it's good for me (and you) that Christ gave His life that Friday.  Without His sacrifice we'd have no redemption.  Seems to me it should be called Ineffable Friday, as there are really no words that can describe the appreciation for what He did for us.  When I try to even imagine, my heart is overwhelmed.  The closest I can come to describing my feelings are the lyrics of Crystal Lewis' "You Didn't Have To Do It".

If you've never heard it before, take a listen...
