As you may recall, about a week back, I had a brief introduction to my new neighbors. Well, Tuesday, as the boys and I headed out for a treat, I saw them walking and decided to greet them. It went something like this:
Me: Hey, how's it going?
Them: Great! (noticing little guy's uniform) Headed to a ball game?
Me: Oh, actually it just ended.
Them: How'd it go?
Little guy: Awesome! We won!
Them: That's all that matters!
Me: (slightly taken aback) They enjoyed themselves.
Them: Yeah... cool.
At this point I notice these fools had been grinning like they were trying to win the 2014 Smile Brite award, since I'd pulled up. Surely they weren't...
Me: Well, I'll let you guys go. Good seeing you.
Them: Yeah, y'all need to come over and hang.
Me: (like the mom on Friday when Miss Parker spoke) Oh...kay. I should be neighborly and bake you some brownies or something.
Them: (giggle...snicker) We can make special brownies.
.....Do what now? Did they just say?.... Ain't we still in Kansas, Toto?.... What da what?......
Me: Um.. well... (now grinning like an idiot myself) We'll see you later.
Them: Alright (waving goodbye; still grinning with their squinty-eyed selves)
Man, how did I not know they'd been blazing it up? What made them think I was gonna spark one with them? (It's 'cause I'm black, right?) These fools!
The teenager just looked at me and shook his head. Welp, I guess that's settled: My next door neighbors are in love with Mary Jane. >_<
