So where does that leave me? Most days, it leaves me in the mirror, concealing under eye circles, priming growing pores, and bronzing dull skin. I, clearly, do not "wake up like this". I have a little help from my buddies MAC, Mary, and Avon. So imagine my panic when I glanced in my rearview mirror, while parking in front of my office building, and realized that I forgot to visit said buddies this morning.
How exactly does one forget to put on makeup, you may ask? Welp... I'm easily distracted and I multitask incessantly. Not exactly great traits for a busy mom. So this morning when I got the urge to go make pancakes for my little guy, I went and made pancakes for little guy.
Of course, I couldn't just make pancakes (hello, multitasker!)... I made pancakes, while preparing my own breakfast and snack and listening to a coach call. By the time all of the food was prepped and stored, coffee was made, and little guy was proclaiming that I'd made "the 3rd best pancakes, EVER!!!" (falling closely behind Daddy's grandma's recipe and Waffle House) I was felling pretty fancy.
Fast forward to the parking lot and my rearview mirror. Yup, there were the under eye circles and the zombiesque dull skin, but there was also a smile... A smile that said "this momma completed an intense workout, got all of her food prepped, and dropped little guy off in a super mood. I have got it goin' on today!"
My point is, my imperfections didn't go away, but the joy that came from my confident start gave me a smile that blew those flaws away. There was a time when I would've turned around and went home. And part of me is contemplating keeping some BB cream in my drawer (just keeping it real), but for the most part, I'm feeling pretty confident in MY beauty today. How about you?
