If you loved me, you'd change: A poem for a loved one

You and I have been together for a long time.
Though I've sometimes strayed and seeked comfort from others you've remained mine.
Don't get it twisted, you're not without your own incidents or blame.
There've been countless times you've betrayed me and made me walk in shame.
But I don't hold a grudge, I wait for you with open arms.
And you've come back to me though I get fickle and sometimes cause you harm.
I know I cut you off countless times then promised to change my ways.
And you told me you'd put that in the past and that you were here to stay.

But lately you've been resistant, stubborn, and unwilling to compromise.
And you do it without shame, for all of the public's peering eyes.
Why do you want to hurt me?  I don't ask for much!
Just for you to relax, hang loose, and respond to my loving touch.
I've learned my lesson, wised up, and treat you with tender loving care.
But still you ignore me and all the the wonderful times we've shared.
So I make this final plea, because my heart can't take much more from you.
If you loved me, you'd accept the millions of applications of manic panic, and turn a brilliant shade of blue.
