Learning to juggle

I'm kind of a creature of habit. Okay, not kind of... I flat out don't like my cheese moved. I could eat the same breakfast for years; wear a uniform every day; listen to the same album on repeat for a month. You get the picture. So, typically, I have a plan for my day. Even if I don't go as far as documenting the plan, the tasks I would like to accomplish are in my head. At the end of each day, my tasks are completed and I'm a happy camper.

That has just NOT been the case for the last 7 days, though. It started with my scheduling my M-I-L's birthday dinner on the wrong Friday (it ended up being a week prior to when I'd intended it). As the week progressed the trend continued with an unplanned doubleheader for little guy on Wednesday, thwarting my plan to help out at VBS. And just when I thought I was getting my tasks back on track, we had some trouble with an install, forcing me to stay online a bit longer than planned in effort to find resolution.

These are not the kind of surprises you want when you've made plans to accomplish certain tasks. The need for the completion of those tasks don't go away. You don't get extra hours to accomplish those tasks. What was I supposed to do?

Well, when life hands you lemons, you get on a unicycle and juggle them. (See what I did there?)

Even though I may have pouted for a little bit, I didn't freak out. I got on my big girl pants and got to juggling. I still had my list of tasks, but with Tetris-like precision, I went to work figuring out how to shift them so I could still fit them in. By the grace of God, that seemed to do the trick. It's so funny to see myself acting all grown up. It may have taken almost 4 decades, but I'm finally learning to juggle.
